Avian Flu Vaccinations on the way...

Jets won.. yeah!

Saskatchewan researchers are working on avian flu vaccinations for both people and birds.

News: According to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, H5N1 has killed or infected 7.2 million poultry since 2021.

At the University of Saskatchewan's Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization (VIDO), Yan Zhou has studied influenza viruses for two decades, with over half of that time devoted to studying avian flu. A recent strain, H5N1, is creating serious worry, according to her.

Future Impacts: Trying to stop the next pandemic among humans.

The increase in H5N1 infections is due to bird flyways, according to Alyson Kelvin, a virologist at VIDO whose research team is collaborating with Zhou's on a national avian flu vaccination plan.

In a wild-card matchup, the Jets defeat the Predators with a crucial shutout victory.

News: In the battle for the last Western Conference wild-card position, Winnipeg improves to 44-32-3.

The Jets are accustomed to the workhorse goaltender's efforts. On Saturday, Connor Hellebuyck made 28 saves to lead Winnipeg to a crucial 2-0 victory over the Nashville Predators. His fourth clean sheet of the year was that one.
